I was lucky enough to travel up to the capital of the Artic Circle - Trømso, Norway. I went with my brother for a long weekend and it was so beautiful.
We arrived (after sprinting to our connecting flight from oslo) and it was already dark, so we took a walk in the town ate at Egon and I had a great taco salad. Then we called it a night after the walk up and down.
The next day we headed up the cable cars and had some fun in the snow and explored the town some more and saw the famous church. We then went to the most northern mcdonalds in the world and a the troll muesum which was a laugh and we ended up playing a great board game there. We then went back to the hotel for some rest before northern lights hunting but today was sooo foggy so hopes were extremely low. The tour itself was good we were on a coach and drove into finland to get them smallest glimmer of the lights ever - it was just a grey line in the sky but on the camera it looked great. The coach up me and Jay were just playing games having a laugh we were the only ones talking on the coach. The actual there we were on a frozen river on the border of Sweden too and we had thermal suits we had a camp fire, had some biscuits and hot chocolate and waited for the lights. The lights themselves to the eye were nothing really but considering the fog we had all day i was grateful at least I was there to see them come up on the camera. We then did the loooooong drive back to our hotel and slept for a few hours.
Day 2 we had a boat tour to go see the fjords which were stunning and the boat had biscuits and tea and coffee for us which was great too and we had a lovely time. We then went back and decided we wanted to do a cold plunge in the artic circle so looked in some shops for Jay to get trunks but came up empty. Then we headed out for dinner at a lovely Italian and saw the worlds smallest bar, and went back to the hotel early and just chilled.
Day 3 was another early one as we were heading to dog sledding. We had breakfast at the hotel as per and i had the best oat hot chooclate ever. We watched the sun rise at 9am and saw some absolutely stunning views on the bus up to the mountains. Once there we realised we were group two so would be having lunch first. So we were in this beautiful red building and had some tea some soup I had vegatiain but did try reindeer (hated it). And we took some pictures in the snow outside before it was time to suit up and meet our dogs. The thermal suits were a dream and the gloves and boots so warm. We had Emma, Susie, Zieten, Omosto (idk how to spell the last two) and they were so cute, I started sitting then me and jay traded half way, they can really run for the break to stop them i had to jump on the break and have all my weight on it otherwise they would pull me away. After that we headed back on the coach home and ate at a sports bar before heading back to the hotel to warm up before heading to pust. Where we had a floating suana on the sea and would go from there to the water. Now this was the coldest day we were there with it feeling like -12 and being -7 but alas it was the day we took the plunge.
We started in the Sauna and I went first and got straight in (jay did not record cause he is a melon) and then we were back in the sauna and the next go was Jay's and he was lucky enough for the northern lights to come out as he swam!!! (another grey line to the human eye) and we went back and forth a few times and I loved it. I felt so good after too so we headed back to the hotel and got in the sauna there for a little bit before showering and packing our stuff for the flight home.
